A superb quarter plate of an identified couple on their wedding day; pictured here is Orville Bird Skinner & his bride Helen Campbell Skinner. Research revealed that Orville handled freight for a major railroad line in Ohio. Their names are handprinted on a slip of paper behind the image & a note from a granddaughter authenticating the penmanship of her grandmother will be passed onto the next owner. A cold studio required outer garments with fur trim & gloves to make this image bearable. $1400

Hand tinting has been applied to all three sisters on this horizontal quarter plate. I like how the operator has captured the likeness of each of these siblings as individuals. Each girl wears a slightly different dress; while all wear similar bows at the neck, only the young lady on the right has a small flower in her hair. A few abrasions & a missing patch of the blue tablecloth are the only things that taint this wonderfully tinted daguerreotype. Inside a Berg 3-32 (S) Case $795
cont.- A "Double" stamped hallmark was discovered while applying new glass and resealing with P90. This fine example of subtle tinting enclosed within a near perfect Berg 3-32 (S) Union case would make an awesome addition to anyones collection. $795
I am not sure if this is an American or English 1/2 plate, however, the size is not typical of a U.S. plate. The older woman wears an awesome pair of folding spectacles; my guess is they are an early type of bifocal lenses. Needless to say, this woman of wealth wears a beautiful shawl & typical bonnet from the period. A rare mat and enclosed in a fantastic 1/2 leather, 1/2 velvet push button case with incredible red velvet pad. A beautiful packaged dag, the image contains several abrasions. $265

A stunning 3/4 view of a woman who appears to be a strong and confident within her likeness. The British daguerreotype is masterfully composed within this arched mat. She wears a beautiful brooch & fob over her incredible patterned shawl. Her hair is nicely braided with rose tinting applied to her face. The case is a full leather case with an unusual mint condition silk pad. A tarnish ring surrounds this wonderful plate along the perimeter of the mat. Case in very good condition. $225

A very handsome young man, who is smartly dressed, sits in front of a hand painted backdrop containing a sailboat. A sharply captured image with nice tonal range rounds out this 1/9th plate image. Some old mat abrasions & a stain above his left shoulder are this dags only major imperfections. The image has been nicely resealed with P90. An unmatched case with working latch adequately protects this image. $95

Contained within this awesome tri-fold leather case there is a wonderful 1/9th plate, appearing to be a smiling contemplative attorney resting his elbow on a large law book. The salt & peppered haired gentleman with sparkling blue eyes holds his smirk well, while the operator exposes this silvery plate. The plate has one abrasion in the same line as the top of the book his arm rests upon. The tri-fold case is in VG condition. A great dag with an unusual expression for this time. $195

An unusual pairing of an early 1/2 plate of elderly woman wearing a locket of a loved one & an actual locket pinned to the inside of the silk pad with a vintage hat pin. The handsome gent & this pretty young woman each had soft tinting added to their cheeks. $750
